More Evidence that Spirulina Reduces Cholesterol
The health benefits of spirulina range from immune-boosting and stress-fighting to detoxifying and energizing. These benefits can be attributed to spirulina’s incredible nutritional profile. And recent research has shown that supplementing daily with spirulina, a type of blue-green algae or cyanobacteria, may reduce high cholesterol and hypertension—factors associated with heart disease. (Torres-Duran PV, Ferreira-Hermosillo A, Juarez-Oropeza MA. Lipids Health Dis. 2007 Nov 26;6:33.)
