Skeleton

I spent about 1.5 days in Delaware with family to celebrate Christmas and to watch my little cousin Anne get married. It was a beautiful wedding and I got some pretty nice things from my family for Christmas.

The time in the airport allowed me to take my first shot at a skeleton directory for my discount shopping website. One thing I realized: I need to shop my competitors!!! How do they set up their sites? What tabs/links to they use? How do they promote their site? What tricks about promoting discount shopping can I learn from them.

Before I accept my Scriptlance bid, I want to have much more in place.

The Search Narrows

So my post has been on Scriptlance now since Christmas day and I think that the interest is starting to die down to design my discount shopping website. It is really interesting to see the wide variety of styles and skill levels.

However, I'm learning that if I really want a good discount shopping website then I should probably go with someone who has some experience in designing eCommerce websites that will appeal to the masses. Some of the programmers have great style but I'm afraid it may be too edgy for my liking. If I'm targeting a younger audience then I know who I should ask to be my designer but I want this site to have wider appeal.

I'm headed out of town this weekend -- back to Delaware for a family wedding. My goal for my time on the plane is to really hammer out the details and the design for my discount shopping website. This way, upon my return, I can accept a bid and really jump in.

New Site

So, I've decided to jump into eCommerce biz again. I currently have a project posted on Scriptlance.com to take bids for someone to build a discount shopping website for me. It probably isn't a true discount shopping website like you're thinking, it is to be set up as an Overstock.com affiliate site. I have high expectations for the design and I'm really hoping it is going to take off.

This blog is to help keep track of the progress of the build as well as the site (once it goes up).

Keep in touch,
